Sylvia Ann Melin

Sylvia Ann Melin, age 85 of Staples, passed away at her daughter Tammy’s house on January 1, 2024.

Sylvia was born on October 10, 1938, in Brainerd, Minnesota to Sylvia (Kemp) and Thomas Nelson. She

married George A. Melin Jr. on June 13, 1959, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Tammy (Jeff) Jares, Terri (Marv) Dockendorf, Traci (Lynn)

Weishalla, Tim (Terri) Melin; grandchildren, April, Robert, Joe, Steph, Heather, Sarah, Traci Marie, Traci Lynn, Emily, Molly, Zach, and Ashley; 27 great grandchildren; brothers, Orville Nelson and Ray Nelson.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Sylvia Nelson; husband, George Melin Jr.; and grandson, Joseph Jares.

A memorial service for Sylvia will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Taylor Funeral Home of Staples with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service. Interment Evergreen Cemetery in Staples.
