Alan Odell Macarthur

Alan MacArthur, age 96, of Brainerd, passed away at St Jospeh’s -Essentia Medical Center on Thursday, November 2, 2023. Alan was born on January 23, 1927, in Willmar, MN to Maurice and Sylvia (Gjevre) MacArthur.

Alan served his country in the US Navy from 1945-1946. He graduated from Brainerd High School in 1947. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, retired postmaster of Nisswa, retired volunteer fireman, member of the VFW, American Legion and fraternal Order of Eagles.

Alan is survived by his wife, Esther; daughters, Aletha (Tom) Cunz and Kathy (Brad) Brown; son, Alan (Jane); stepson, John Gustafson; stepdaughters, Sonja Coleman and Annette Clark; sister, Elaine Olson; brother, Maurice MacArthur, 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Kathryn; stepdaughter, Cris Annen.

Private burial at a later date.
