Alice L. Wroolie 92, passed away peacefully at her son's home October 10, 2020. She was surrounded by family. Alice was born in Duluth December 15, 1927. She grew up in Duluth and worked at Snyder Drug, as a young adult. She and a girlfriend moved to Minneapolis and she worked in the make-up department at Dayton's. She didn't like the city and moved back to Duluth. She married William Wroolie Sr. and they moved to Fort Ripley to raise their family. She was a member of St. Mathias Church and volunteered in the kitchen and for the Red Cross Blood Drive, held at the church. Alice was a life member of the Purple Heart Auxiliary, and volunteered making wreaths. She often visited friends in the hospital, usually bringing them a treat. At Christmas she was known for her Popcorn Balls. So many came for them, she started having friends and family over to help them and share her secret recipe. Alice was loved and will be missed by her children, Bill (MaryBeth), Clarence (Gloria Bruns), Brad (Charlotte), Linda Paige (Peter Vos), Dennis (Cheryl), Pam (Larry) Japp, Kevin (Beth), Kelly (Treasa); 21 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and 6 brothers and sisters. Alice is preceded in death by her husband, William Wroolie Sr.; son, Dale; 2 grandsons; 1 great granddaughter; 2 brothers; and 1 sister. The family would like to thank Knute Nelson Hospice for all of the wonderful assistance and advice. They were amazing. A Memorial Service for Alice will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at St. Mathias Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Visitation will also be held from 5:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at the Halvorson Taylor Life Events Center, 512 S. 8th Street in Brainerd.
