Allen Eide

Allen Eide Passed away at his Mesa, AZ home on March 30, 2017, surrounded by his wife and 3 daughters. He was born January 10, 1932 to parents, Palmer and Gina Eide of Fairdale, ND. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and received his education in Fairdale. In 1950, he volunteered for the Army and then to serve in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1953. On March 12, 1955 he married Carole Gunderson of Buxton, ND and lived in Park River, ND where he and his brother Gil began a construction company. He also worked at an auto-implement dealership. They moved to Grand Forks where he started his first used car lot, which he expanded to include mobile homes. He moved his family to Mpls in 1964 and being a man of ambition and drive, he went into many business ventures, including the manufacture and sales of pool tables, buying auto dealerships and the Minneapolis Auto Auction. He moved his family to Crosslake, MN in 1974 and while there, Allen, who was also an auctioneer, did many charity auctions for those in need. His mission in life was to help other people, which continued until his death. HE was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and a loyal friend and mentor to all who came into contact with him. He will always be remembered for his love, kindness, generosity, and guidance. Though he became a successful businessman, he never forgot his humble beginnings and treated all people as equals. He and Carole spent winters in Mesa, AZ summers on Gull Lake and were members of First Lutheran Church . He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gil, and sisters, Ruth and Joyce. Left to cherish his memory are, his loving wife of 62 years, Carole; daughters, Cindi (Jack) Carlson, Joan Peterson, Sandy (Tim) Christian; grandchildren, Jesse (Krissi) Peterson, Molly (Brian) Burke, Mandy (Cody) Holte, Matt Christian; great grandchildren, Crew & Piper; nieces, nephews. A memorial Service Will be held at First Lutheran Church, 424 South 8th St, Brainerd MN on May 6th 2017 at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior. Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran, Thema Hospice, Phoenix, Shriner’s Children Hospital, American Lung Association.
