Ann Marie Horn, 55, of Baxter, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on October 21, 2020 at her home. She was born on August 5, 1965 in Wadena, Minnesota to Eugene and Lois (Messer) Tyrrell. Ann grew up in Wadena and graduated from Wadena High School where she was active in band, speech and debate, track and field, and was member of Job’s Daughters. After high school, she attended the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN where she graduated with a degree in Biology and Natural Sciences. Ann traveled many places including Europe, Japan, Alaska, Mexico, Bermuda, Hawaii, Las Vegas, California, Florida and the East Coast. Ann worked at Cragun’s Resort for 32 years and Target for the past three years. Her devotion to Cragun’s will never be equaled. At Cragun’s she did it all and everyone truly depended upon her! Her free time was spent with family, scrapbooking, gardening, traveling, camping and time at the Lake. She loved her pets; they were constant companions and an important part of her daily life. Ann was a member of Park United Methodist Church and helped establish a new congregation in Baxter, the Light of the Lakes Church. As part of the fundraising for this new church, Ann organized various activities including brat sales. She also organized the Fare for All food distribution network in the area and was a teacher at Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. In 1993, she married Wayne Horn and they had one son, Ethan. She was a devoted mother to Ethan and enjoyed watching him play sports and traveled to all of his games. Her devotion as a mother resulted in raising a wonderful young man in Ethan. In July of 2017, Ethan married Wilhelmina Gerdes (Willy) and in March, Ann became a grandmother for the first time to Grayson. Ann had a kind, gentle and calm demeanor. She was a tremendous person and there are so many words that describe her. She was dedicated, loyal, devoted, friend, confidant and dependable. Everyone could count on Ann! Ann is preceded in death by her father, Eugene Tyrrell. She will be deeply missed by her son, Ethan (Wilhelmina); grandson, Grayson; mother, Lois Tyrrell; brother, Norman Tyrrell (Xiaohong Zheng); nephew (Alexander Tyrrell); nieces (Lana Semmens, Rosie Pfenning, Calissa Tyrrell); aunts, Carol Oyster (Alaska) and Renee Pfenning (North Dakota) and many, many others.
