Betty L (Raddatz) Johnson, age 95, of Brainerd, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Bethany Good Samaritan Society. Betty was born on December 12, 1928, in Redwood Falls to Arnold Paul and Fern Jessie (Barrett) Raddatz. The family moved to Brainerd in 1936 and she attended the public school. Betty graduated from Bemidji State University in 1968 and taught in the Brainerd School District from 1969-1986. On August 22, 1964, she married Carl L. Johnson in Brainerd.

Betty was a member of the First Congregation Church, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, MEA and NEA association, women’s fellowship at the church, RSVP Volunteer program, Senior Center (donut group, past VP of the Senior Board of Directors), historian for the Community Gardens, past secretary of the Rollin Rangers Camping Group, Alumni of Central Lakes College and Bemidji State University, Bethany Good Samaritan Auxiliary and a member of the Elks. She volunteered at the Brainerd VA Center. Betty was awarded the honor of Outstanding Senior Citizen of the year in 2004 and received the Good Samaritan Bowl Volunteer Spirit award in 2009.

Betty is survived by her sisters, Shirley Holbrook and Donna Mogensen; sister-in-law, Karen Raddatz; many nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; brothers, LeRoy and Elroy; sister, Yvonne Herberg.

Funeral service for Betty will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 11AM at First Congregation Church in Brainerd. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.
