Beverly Mae Stoe, age 93 of Brainerd MN, went to be with Jesus on April, 22, 2024 in Roseau, MN. There will be a celebration of life on Monday, April 29, 3:00 pm at Community of Hope Church of the Nazarene in Brainerd, MN. Visitation will be Sunday, April 28, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Halvorson-Taylor Funeral Home, Brainerd, MN.
Beverly was born in Fargo, ND January 21, 1931. She was adopted by Anton and Thora Stardig in October 1932. Beverly had two older brothers, Buford and Vernon, they lived on a farm near New England, North Dakota. At age 6, during the Great Depression, she moved to Winger, MN. When she was 12 they moved to a farm near Erskine, MN where she attended a Country School thru the eighth grade. During those years she loved working on the farm with her dad. She spent very little time indoors learning what most girls learned. Beverly said “I was my dad’s right hand girl. We did everything together.” It was during those years with her dad where she learned many handy skills, learning how to maintain and repair equipment among many other things. After graduating from high school in 1949, Beverly moved to Brainerd, MN and lived with her brother, Buford and his family. It was on a Greyhound Bus at Marcoux Corner, east of Crookston where she met a sailor Delbert Stoe, who was home on leave from the Navy. On January 21, 1955 they were married in Brainerd, MN. They made their home in Brainerd and together they raised five children.
As a child Beverly accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a revival service. This began a lifelong devotion to Jesus and the church. She was a member of the Brainerd Church of the Nazarene since the age of 18, serving in many different capacities throughout her life. Most of all she loved serving others. She found great joy in giving to those less fortunate and opening her home to anybody who needed a meal. Music played an important part of her life, singing and playing guitar in church and sharing that love with her children. She has left a legacy of faith to not only her family, but everyone she came in contact with.
Beverly is survived by her children, Debbie (Robert) Kleven of Alvarado, MN, Pat (Chuck) Nelson of Brainerd, MN, Pam (Ron) Thramer of Roseau, MN, Mike (Deb) Stoe of Brainerd, MN, Jon (Tedi) Stoe, Valley City, ND; grandchildren Kirsten Kleven, Katie Kleven, Hailey Kleven, Samantha Kleven, Sarah Munsterteiger, Amy Dirks, Haley Schumann, Sabrina Andrew, Valerie Meyer, Mike Stoe, Ginny Stoe, PJ Stoe, Zach Stoe, Coby Stoe, Noah Stoe, and 14 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delbert Stoe; granddaughter, Hannah Thramer; brothers, Buford and Vernon Stardig; sister Marjorie Stardig.
Beverly will be remembered by her family and friends for her famous pancakes, goulash and lefse. But most of all she will be remembered for her deep living relationship with Jesus and praying daily for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her greatest desire was for everyone to come to know Jesus. She will be deeply missed by her family.
