Blanche Almira Bitzer

Blanche Almira Bitzer, age 99, passed away in Pillager on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. Blanche was born in Wisconsin to John & Esther (Foss) Forbes. She attended Maplewood Academy in Hutchinson and graduated in 1941. She worked in the lab at the creamery in Hutchinson, where she met Fred Bitzer, they married in May of 1945. Fred worked as a contractor and Blanche painted homes for him and her son-in-law, Roger. Blanche also worked in a book bindery. She was very active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in both Hutchinson and Brainerd.
Blanche lived at Mississippi Terrace for 30 years, before moving to Pillager, Riverside Assisted Living, where she passed away. The family wishes to thank the staff who attended to her needs in the last few years of her life.
Blanche had a good faith in God. She was very patient, thoughtful and understanding. She loved her family and friends and found great joy in making people happy. Blanche also enjoyed making German food for her family, playing pool, and doing puzzles. She looked forward to decorating for every holiday. Blanche enjoyed listening to music, hymns, polka, gospel and country. Her favorite flower was a lilac, and always appreciated a good backrub.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Sandra (Roger) Stearns, Linda (Jim) Johnson, James (Charity), Jerry (Sharon), Dennis (Deb);9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Blanche in death are her parents; beloved husband, Fred; siblings: Robert and Shirley.
A celebration of Blanche’s 99 years of life will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 12:30PM at Seventh Day Adventist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Maplewood Academy in Hutchinson, of which Blanche had a passion for youth education.
