Bruce Fetters, 79, of Brainerd, Minnesota, passed away on August 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family following a short battle with cancer and many years of heart problems. He was born on February 18, 1947, in Britton, South Dakota, to Willard and Minnie (Dinger) Fetters.
Bruce was a hardworking man who believed in giving 120% to everything he did. For more than 50 years, he was a self-employed contractor specializing in residential masonry. Work was more than a career to Bruce—it was simply part of who he was. His strong work ethic stayed with him throughout his life, and he continued working right up until the end.
As important as his work was to him, family was always the most important thing in Bruce’s life. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply, and the time he spent with them meant more to him than anything else.
Bruce was happiest when he was busy and helping others. He especially enjoyed doing concrete work alongside his sons and brothers, creating lasting memories while working together. He loved plowing snow and taking care of neighbors and friends, making hay, managing his hobby farm, and sawing lumber. Whether there was work to be done, someone who needed a hand, or a neighbor who needed looking after, Bruce was someone people could count on. His generosity, determination, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.
Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Jean; his children, Shawn Fetters (Melissa), Shane Fetters (Dana), Shad Fetters (Rachel), Sonja Munns (Timothy), Seth Fetters (Yoani), Slade Fetters (Billie), and Chase Running (Clara); 21 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren and one more coming soon.
He is also survived by his siblings, Dilly Salgren (Larry), Alma Sahli, Hazel Sletton (Tom), Dow Fetters (Kim), Joe Fetters (Karen), and Evva Munson (Shaun).
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Doris Eigenheer and Willis Fetters; brother-in-law, Dennis Sahli; and his beloved grandchildren, Isabelle Marie and Cyd Mateo.
Bruce will be deeply missed by his family, friends, neighbors, and all who knew and loved him. His legacy will live on through the family he treasured, the many people he helped, and a lifetime of hard work and service to others.
