Carolyn Ruby Nystrom

Our Beloved Mother gained her wings today.

Carolyn Ruby (Schwenn) Nystrom (aka: Ruby Red Lips) 87, of Staples, MN passed away peacefully at her home on March 12, 2023 in the arms of her youngest son, Gary.

Carolyn Ruby (Schwenn) Nystrom was born August 23, 1935 to Ruben Carl and Hatti Belle (Haessig) Schwenn of Athol, SD. Mother was raised by her brother Clair and sister-in-law LaVern of Pierre, South Dakota and graduated from Pierre High School in 1954.

Our Mother was amazing, she busted her ass working to keep a roof over our heads, food on the table and clothes on our backs. We don’t remember our mother ever doing anything for herself. No self-enjoyment, like a vacation, buying anything extraordinary for herself. Her children came first.

In our opinion our mother sacrificed her self-enjoyment to raise her children.

We are so proud of Mother and so sad that the last years of her life her memory was slowly taken away fighting the evil disease of dementia.

We are so sad that we are losing you, Momma, but as the same time we are happy that the good Lord has taken you home and you are finally able to be with your daddy and all your relatives and friends that have preceded you in death.

We Love you Momma and will miss you dearly, and we look forward to the day we can be by your side again.

Mother is preceded in death by her father, Ruben Carl and mother Hatti Belle (Haessig) Schwenn, former husband, Gerald Nystrom; brothers, Claire Schwenn and Howard Schwenn; sisters, Helen Schwenn, Alvina Stearns, Joyce Brown and Hazel Anderson; grandchildren Vanessa Nystrom and Joshua Loch; great grandchildren, Dayvian Nystrom and Rex Keeton.

Mother is survived by sister-in-law, (Mom) LaVern (Schwenn) Ellwanger; daughters, Gail (Endsely) Loch, Karen (Endsely) Landwehr; sons, Alan Nystrom (Terri), Jerry Nystrom (Mike), Gary Nystrom (Patty); grandchildren, Cody Loch (Nikki), Cassidy Loch; Jesse Landwehr, Stephanie Keeton, Susan Henck (Harmon), Heidi Jo Rosenow, Scott Rosenow, Jenni Nystrom, Alan Lee Nystorm, Eli Nystrom, Kris and Jared Bakke, LaTeesha Rieck, David Rieck (Randi); great grandchildren, Haden Rosenow, Garret Rosenow, Jacob Loch, Peyton Loch, Troy Kelly, Ava Landwehr, Alexess Henck, Bryce Nystrom, Ava Henck, Emillian Alexander, Jenniah Jo Carter, Brayton Mitchell, Ashlynn Rieck, Maelynn Rieck, Jessa Manasco, Jace Bakke, Brynleigh Rieck, Reese Keeton, Aubrey Opatz and Hazel Opatz.

A private service will be held at the cemetery.
