Dennis John Litke passed away on August 3, 2025, surrounded by his family at the Rochester- Methodist Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery, with a light lunch to be served afterward.
Dennis was born on November 7, 1953, in Little Falls, MN, to John and Frances (Bieganek) Litke. He graduated from Pierz Healy High School in Pierz with the Class of 1972. A few years after high school, he met the love of his life, Diane Rubbelke, and they were married on August 6, 1977. Together they had two daughters. Dennis was a dedicated husband and father, always putting the needs of his family and others above his own. His quiet strength, selflessness, and steady presence will be deeply missed.
A skilled and meticulous carpenter, Dennis learned much of his trade from his father-in-law, Virgil Rubbelke. He took great pride in his craftsmanship. Alongside his carpentry career, Dennis and Diane owned and operated Rugged West, a western store in Brainerd, for many years. He later retired from construction, specializing in finish work.
Dennis had a deep love for the outdoors—he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time on the lake. He was always ready to lend a helping hand or fix anything in need of repair. He also had a passion for classic cars, especially the classic car he owned, and spent many hours tinkering on them.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Cassandra (Adam) Stafford and Cheyenne (Mike) Prososki; grandchildren, Alessia and Calise Stafford, and Harvey Prososki; siblings, Terry (Carol) Litke, Mike (Joy) Litke, Gary (Lou) Litke, Lois Britzius, and Glen (Lori) Litke; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Litke; sister, Bonnie Litke; and in-laws, Virgil and Vivian Rubbelke, Marilyn Rubbelke, and Myron Rubbelke; and brother-in-law Dave Britzius.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests memorials to assist with final expenses. Arrangements have been entrusted with Halvorson Taylor Funeral Home, Brainerd.
