Donald Arthur Sirucek

Donald Arthur Sirucek, an 80 year old resident of Poplar Township near Leader, MN, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples, MN. Don was born September 10,1942 in Ronan, Montana the 12th child of Rose (Kasala) and Emil Sirucek.

Growing up, Don's childhood was spent working on the the family farm where his parents also owned a logging and sawmill operation. Don was the only son of Rose and Emil Sirucek to graduate high school and college.

Don married Denise (Hiebert), his wife of 59 years in 1964 at the Little Brown Church in Big Fork, Montana. While living in Montana; Don was active in the US Army from 1959-1965, worked at the local Plywood Plant as a Millwright, and the Anaconda Aluminum Plant as an electrician.

After moving their family to Minnesota in 1971, Don operated a farm with dairy, beef, and crops. He served on the Lakewood Health System Hospital Board, Town Board for Poplar Township, and Cass County Soil and Water Conservation Board. Don was a skilled craftsman who built boats, several houses, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

A memorial service for Don will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Motley Free Methodist Church with a gathering time one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jim Johnson officiating. A lunch will follow immediately after the service. The family is requesting potted plants in lieu of flowers.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Emil Sirucek; and 12 siblings, grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Denise; children, Leo, Quincy (Vickie), Paulette (John), Neil (LaNette), Loren (Barbara), Justin, and Tyler (Lydia); many grandchildren; great grandchildren; extended family members, and dear friends.
