Dorothy Ann Lehner

Dorothy Ann Lehner, age 82, of Verndale, MN passed away on May 12, 2025, in her home, surrounded by loved ones and family. Dorothy was born on November 4, 1942, in Verndale, MN to Leonard (Len) and Mathilda (Tillie) Schwartz. She was was baptized and confirmed at St. Frederick Catholic Church of Verndale, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm with fond memories of delivering cream cans to town with her father every day, making quilts with her mother and playing hide and seek with her siblings. She attended Verndale Public school where she graduated in 1960 and then continued her education at Bemidji State University, graduating with a degree in education in 1963 then went on to teach in rural Minnesota. At the age of 28 she was united in marriage to Larry Paul Lehner of Verndale, Minnesota on June 19, 1971, at St. Frederick Catholic Church and had 10 children.

Dorothy is survived by her ten children, Nicholle (Rob) Avedisian of Dawsonville, GA, Noelle (Rick) Nelson of Crookston, MN, Kurt Lehner of Plymouth, MN, Brett (Heidi) Lehner of Missawa, Japan, Blayne (Michelle) Lehner of Lakeville, MN, Craig (Rachel) Lehner of Verndale, MN, Trent (Erica) Lehner of Motley, MN, Nannette (Matthew) Hanson of Verndale, MN, Natalie (Jeff) Abel of Canadian Lakes, MI, and Jesse (Ashlee) Lehner of Grand Rapids, MN; and her twenty four grandchildren, Ryan (12), Gage & Grant (twins-20), Luke & Aidan (twins-16), Caleb (13), Samuel (20), Gabe (28), Chris (25),l Breann (23), Mia (20), A.J. (16), Porter (12), Evan (10), Joseph (9), Abigail (6), Emma (20), Ethan (19), Piper (13), Finnegan (10), Rileigh (17), Dillon (6), Owen (5) and Sawyer (3).

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard (Len) and Mathilda (Tillie); her brothers, James and Martin; her sister, Beverly, and her husband of 42 years, Larry.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7PM on Friday, July 18th, 2025, at Taylor Funeral Home in Staples.
