Douglas M Mevissen

Douglas (Papa) Melvin Mevissen, age 67, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his entire family, on February 4th, 2022. Doug spent his younger years serving in the National Guards, followed by owning and operating his own logging business, until eventually retiring and enjoying the remainder of his life with his family.

Papa loved nothing more than spending time fishing, no matter the weather. As well as causing trouble with his siblings and children, that was his forte. He always had everyone laughing. He’d give anything in a second if it helped someone out. He joins his parents, Melvin Walter and LaVerne Mary Mevissen, Son, Anthony, and nephew, Austin, in passing.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Ralyn Mae Mevissen (Mongan), 5 children, Troy (Tracy) Mevissen, Melvin (Ashley) Mongan, Carl (Amanda) Mevissen, Tonya (Bob) Warner, and Travis (Tess) Mevissen, Siblings, Bruce Mevissen, Susan Mevissen, Bonnie (Larry) Skogquist, Sharon (John) Long, Karen (Randy) Wipper, and Mickey. Along with numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews that loved him dearly.

Service will be held Saturday, February 12th at 4:20 pm at Motley Free Methodist Church, 33 Wellwood St, Motley, MN 56466. There will be a gathering following the service at Wahoo Valley Bar & Grill.
