Eleanor H. Simons 100-year-old resident of Upper South Long Lake and Sun City, AZ passed away July 23, 2019. A memorial service will be held at 4PM on Sunday, July 28 at Halvorson Taylor Funeral Home in Brainerd, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. She was the first child to be born in their Sears Catalog Home. On September 20, 1941 she was united in marriage to George “Mac” Simons in Horace, MN. Eleanor worked as a dietician and as a nanny for the Gamble family. She enjoyed playing bridge, Scrabble, telling jokes, and traveling the world with Mac. Eleanor was a baker extraordinaire, and made lefsa and cookies for “the old people.” She made Hardanger well into her 90’s, and drove her children to church until she was 99. Upon her arrival in heaven, we know dad welcomed her and she fulfilled her wish of sitting in her mother’s lap after waiting 93 years.
