George Robert Nelson

Memorial services for George Robert Nelson, 93, of Brainerd, MN. will be at 11:00 on Friday, January 12 at Halvorson Taylor Funeral Home, 512 South 8th Street, Brainerd, MN. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 at the funeral home and lunch will be served there following the memorial service.

George passed away peacefully on January 3 with family by his side. The Halvorson Taylor Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to Adult & Teen Challenge, Interfaith Volunteers, or Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity.

George was born on June 9, 1930, in Rapidan, MN., the son of Claude and Averil Nelson. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and veterinarian. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His greatest enjoyments were fishing, woodworking, and time spent with family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are four daughters: Laurie (Terry) Dahl, Kathy Delaney, Heidi (Dale) Stromback, and Becky (Chris) Feldmeier: seven grandchildren; Brian (Tressa) Dahl, Craig (Bree) Dahl, Luke (Sara) Delaney, Hannah Delaney, Carlina (Jeremy) Grindeland, Spencer (Ye) Stromback, and Zachary Feldmeier, ten great- grandchildren; Ender, Everly, Brecken, Statler, Elijah, Lydia, Beau, Flora, Sylvie, and George, sisters-in law, Anita Nelson and Iris Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.

George will be greatly missed by all of those who loved him and called him friend.
