Gerald (Jerry) Boyer

Gerald (Jerry) J. Boyer age 77 of Staples, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the Lakewood Health Care System in Staples. He was born on November 4, 1945, in Watkins, Minnesota to Caroline (Schreiner) and John Boyer. He married Cindy A. VanRoekel in Bertha, Minnesota on November 27, 1976.

Funeral services for Jerry will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Taylor Funeral Home in Staples with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Jerry bought the farm his parents rented. While he farmed that property his first two children where born. Then in 1976 he moved to Wadena. Working for the forestry station fighting wildfires. He met Cindy in Keys cafe one night after work. They were then married November of that year. They lived in Blue Grass where Dan was born. Then they moved to the country, raised pigs and horses and that is where Justin was born. In a later move he began to farm again as a hired hand when Tonya was a baby. He and his family then moved to their current property in 1985. He worked for Dick Pickar pumping the liquid manure pits. His last work was hauling potato's at harvest time.

Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, drinking beer, breaking horses and going to the Rodeo.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tonya Boyer; sisters, Blanch Dockenorf, Evelyn McCann; brother, Ralph Boyer.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Cindy; children, Carrie Trautz of St. Cloud, Kelly Boyer of Kentucky, Dan (Leda Nolan) Boyer of Verndale, Justin (Jenny) Boyer of Pillager; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred McCann, Margie (Jerry) Anderson, Clarice Jones, Shirley Garvey, Grace (Terry) Struthers, Darlene Boyer; brother, Dick (Rosella) Boyer.
