Gladys Roberts

Gladys Roberts, age 92, of Staples, passed away at her home on Tuesday, October 8, 2019. Gladys was born on August 21, 1927 in Bertha to Oscar & Alwilda (Johnson) Melsness. She married Wayne Ellenbaum, and together they had four sons. After Wayne passed away in 1954, Gladys married Richard Roberts in 1957, and their family continued to grow. Gladys loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking for a household full of family, and other friends too, that would show up for dinner. She was an excellent bowler. Gladys enjoyed puzzles, bird watching, crafting and gardening. She was a sweet, kind woman who will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 62 years, Richard; children: Lindy Ellenbaum of Minneapolis, Steve Ellenbaum of Motley, Russ (Linda) Ellenbaum of Topeka, KS, Scott Ellenbaum of Motley, Doug (Dianne) Roberts of Staples, Jim (Mary Ellen) Roberts of Harrisburg, PA and Sue Roberts of Sartell; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Gladys is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Wayne; sons: Dave Roberts and Mike Roberts; and grandson, Joel Roberts. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 11AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Taylor Funeral Home of Staples
