Janice Erickson

Janice Evelyn Erickson, age 76, of Verndale, passed away surrounded by her friends and family, on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena. Janice was born in Hollywood, California on January 4, 1943, to George Thomas & Evelyn Mary (Welch) Zamlich. She graduated from Mercy High School in 1961, then went on to college at San Francisco College for Women and graduated in 1965 with a degree in psychology. She married Lynn William Erickson on September 18, 1965, in San Francisco, California. The family grew and lived in many locations over the years, including, Moss Beach, CA, Delaware, OH, Hawaii Kai, Oahu, San Diego, CA, Sacremento, CA, then Concord, CA, before retiring and moving back to Lynn’s family farm in Verndale in 1998. Janice retired as social worker for 21 years at the Bay Area Crisis Nursery. She was an active member of St Fredericks Catholic Church in Verndale, belonging to Christian Mother’s and Women of St Fredericks. She also belonged to the Verndale Historical Society, England Prairie Pioneer Club, and Farmer’s Union. Janice enjoyed spending her time reading, oil painting, crafting, gardening, horseback riding weightlifting, and walking and hiking outdoors. She was deeply devoted to her family and friends and cared for by those whose lives she touched. Janice will be forever missed by her husband of 53 years, Lynn; sons: Christian (Fiance’, Kasia and daughter, Veronica) and Todd; sisters: Judi Maxwell and Laura Aranda; nieces: Peggy, Lisa, Nicole, Denise, Lindsay, Alexis and Karen; nephews: Greg, Robert, David, Jason and Anthony; dear friends: Tom, Shane, Karen, Gen and countless others. Preceding her in death are her parents; brother, Steve Zamlich. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 11AM at St. Fredericks Catholic Church in Verndale. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass, with Rosary being prayed at 9:30AM by the Christian Mother’s. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. She will be missed, but never forgotten.
