Jeffrey Hess

Jeffrey James Hess, 67, of Motley passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 20th, 2025. Jeff attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Staples-Motley High School in 1976 and went on to attend Natural Resources School in Bemidji and then trade school for Painting. Over the following decades he operated Hess Decorating and helped beautify the inside and outside of our community's homes.

Jeffrey was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and grouse hunting every chance he got. He had a gift for completing jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed a good History Channel documentary. During his lifetime he installed these loves into his children, Hannah and Joe. He had a quick sense of humor and an infectious smile. His greatest love apart from family was his 40 acre farm, where he spent more than 30 years of his life.

Jeffrey is survived by his mother, Nancy Resch (Schultenover), brother Todd, sisters Peggy (David) and Kim (Keith), children Hannah (Jacob) and Joseph (Andrea), bonus children Alyssa and Scott (Shannon), and dog Emmet. He has gone home for a reunion with his father James, late wife Mary and all other people he loved who've gone before him. Services will be held at his farm on October 4th, 2025 at 11am.
