Joy V Case

Joy Varie Case, 94, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025 at Heartwood Care Center, Crosby, MN.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 12:00pm at the Halvorson Taylor Funeral Home in Brainerd. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd.

Joy was born on December 29, 1930, in Milaca, MN, to Harry and Leta (Weaver) Stromberg. Joy had two sisters, Clio Siverson (deceased) and Janice McIndoo, of Plymouth, MN.

Joy married Earl Case in July of 1947. Together they raised three children, Terry Case of Merrifield, Jill (David) Darling of Dundee, Scotland, and Michael Case (deceased). Joy was a doting grandmother to Dr. Lori-An Etherington, also of Dundee, and Jeffrey (Liza) Darling of Genovés, Spain. She was a proud great grandmother of Emily, Lewis, and Oliver.

In later life Joy married Dr. Alan Anderson. They spent ten happy years together before his passing.

Joy had a passion for music. She played the piano by ear, often entertaining the staff and residents of Heartwood with her music. She also enjoyed dancing, golf, swimming, and entertaining family and friends.

Joy’s strong Christian faith gave her comfort in her final days.
