Karen Kathleen Oseland, 82, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, surrounded by family. Karen was born on July 31, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to Ivan and Kathleen (Grogan) Wedan. She was raised in Duluth, Minnesota, and graduated from Washington High School in Brainerd.
Karen married the love of her life, Leonard Oseland, on July 3, 1961, in Brainerd, Minnesota. Together they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, family, and countless memories.
Karen was very proud of her work as a healthcare worker and dedicated much of her life to caring for others. Above all else, family was the center of her world. She made sure those around her always knew how deeply she loved them. She demonstrated and taught love to everyone around her. Karen treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and nothing brought her greater joy than being surrounded by family.
She and Leonard loved wintering in Texas and enjoyed traveling together over the years. Karen also found great happiness, tending to her beautiful flower gardens, where she spent many peaceful hours.
Karen is survived by her loving husband, Leonard; children, Mark (Tina) Oseland, Janet (Randy)Ewald, Patti (Josh) Pangier, and Cindy (Brandon) Larson; siblings, Nancy Kivilahti, Carole Nichols, and Richard Wedan; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Nicholle; great-grandson, Xavior; and brother, Roger Wedan.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday May 20, 2026 at 11:00am at the Halvorson Taylor Funeral Home in Brainerd with Pastor Mark Ford officiating. There will be a visitation held at10:00am. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
Karen will be remembered for her caring heart, devotion to her family, strong work ethic, and the love she shared so freely with everyone around her.
