Kimberly Joy Verret, 61, Garrison, MN passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023.
Kimberly Joy Verret was born in Kenmare North Dakota on August 12, 1962, to Karyl and Robert Knecht.
Kim moved to Minnesota in 1984 where she worked at Children’s Palace, Metro Gravel, the Post Office and Beauty Mart.
In 1996, she moved back to North Dakota where she owned and operated a bar and restaurant (Stir’um Up Bar and Grill) until 2008. She moved to Arizona in 2008 and worked with her mother and step-father, Karyl & Mike O'Leary. In 2018, she moved to Minnesota to be closer to her sons and grandchildren. She helped operate a restaurant (Spotlite Café – Garrison, MN) and retail store (Unclaimed Freight North - Aitkin, MN) with her son Nick.
Kim enjoyed the outdoors – fishing and camping. She was an avid quilter. In her younger years she enjoyed going on cruises, riding her Harley, and shooting fast-draw.
Kim lived life to the fullest each and every day. Her pride and joy were her sons and her 10 grandchildren. She was so proud of everyone’s accomplishments and always encouraged and supported her family's ambitions. Kim is survived by her mother, Karyl O’Leary; her father, Robert (Arlene) Knecht; sons, Nick (Amber) Bratland, Scott (Sharon) Houle; her grandchildren, Zac, Riley, Emma, Lilly, Oliva, Baron, Paisley, and Charles, Kaleb and Kristian; and her 4-pawed companions, Salina and Jack. She is also survived by uncle George (Diane) Clark; and cousins, Tammy Baumann and Jeff Heilman. Kim was preceded in death by her second husband, Steve Houle and third husband Gary Verret; step-father, Mike O’Leary; brother, Kenneth Knecht; aunt, Judi Current.
A celebration of life for Kim will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the Halvorson Taylor Life Events Center, 512 S. 8th Street, Brainerd.
