Lloyd Joseph Hoemberg, a 92 year old resident of Lakewood Health Care Center in Staples passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022 in Staples. He was born July 20, 1929 in Staples to Mary (Freund) and John Hoemberg. He completed 8th grade at Sacred Heart School, and as a young man worked in North Dakota, and then on the Northern Pacific Railway on Bridge and Building. He served in the Korean War form 1951 to 1954 with the US Army, stationed in Okinawa Japan. Lloyd retired from SLI Industries in 1988, where he had traveled all over the United States and overseas installing printing presses. Lloyd was an avid woodworker in his retirement. Loved a good joke, a good cigar and winning at cards.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Hoemberg; brothers, Matt (Pearl), Bernard (Bud), Edwin, Leon and infant brother, Anthony; sisters, Josephine Olinger, Frances (Vernon) Peterson, Rose King, and Delores (Harold) Hensel and Mary Lou; also former wives, Kay (Frank) and Dorothy (Johnson).
Lloyd is survived by his sister-in-laws, Delona Hoemberg, and Geneva Hoemberg; also many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Lloyd will be held at 4:00pm on Friday, May 6, 2022 at the Taylor Funeral Home of Staples, with gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service. Military Honors will take place at 11:00AM on Monday, May 9th, 2022 at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
