Marjorie Marie Russell, age 90, of Butte, Montana, passed away at her home on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Marjorie was born near Torrington, Wyoming to Earl and Esther (Wilson) Holm on June 7, 1933. She married Charles A. Russell on March 1, 1952 and together they raised two sons.
Marjorie was an accomplished pianist and organist and played for church services for many years. She authored the book ‘Russell Roots and Branches’, after extensive genealogical exploration of scores of libraries, court house records and cemeteries. She enjoyed producing beautiful hand-made greeting cards for family and friends, and was devoted to providing a home and much love for many kitten-turned-cat companions. Marjorie also became proficient at oil painting and completed all but a small portion of a 4 year nursing program when a back injury ended her budding career. Her greatest pleasure in life derived from caring for her family, looking after their needs, refining her ‘Ten Talents’ in the kitchen and following the careers of her three doctors.
Left to cherish her memory is her youngest son, Donald Eugene Russell, M.D. (retired); her eldest son’s widow, Anita Forczek Moergeli; sisters-in-law Sharon Holm and Barbara Holm; Maureen Russell, Addie Olson and Alvina (Don) Peterson; granddaughter Chelsea Russell; and great granddaughter Chloe Russell-King; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Charles Arlington Russell, M.D., her son Charles Alan Russell, M.D., brothers, Dale Holm, Donald Holm and Elmer Eugene Holm.
A Celebration of Life for Marjorie will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Halvorson Taylor Life Events Center at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hewitt, Minnesota.
