Marlene Dian Miller age 70, born August 14, 1950 to Emma and Clifford Miller in Staples, MN. Marlene passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Baxter, MN of Parkinson’s. She was a great sister to Susan and brother Dave. She graduated from Staples High School Class of 1968. From there she went to St. Cloud State University in MN and graduated with a degree in Geography and Biology. Upon graduation she took her big pink suitcase on a greyhound bus to Tucson, AZ all by herself. She was a very independent girl. In Tucson she worked at a title company. From there she moved to Anaheim, CA with a roommate from Tucson. She worked at a jewelry store and then an engineering company and then passed a difficult test for the city of Santa Ana, CA and worked at the Public Works Department for 25 years doing drafting by ink on large table size sheets of paper for the Public Works Department and later computer drafting. She retired in her 50’s so she could travel more. She visited Russia, Europe, Iceland, South America, Turkey, Canada, Africa, Australia, Costa Rico, New Zealand, Alaska, Bahama’s and many trips to Hawaii with Susan. She also had many trips all over the US. She especially liked the small riverboat cruises around the US. Marlene liked to play tennis 2-4 times a week with Susan for 40 years. Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Clifford. Marlene is survived by sister, Susan Miller; brother, David Miller; special sister-in-law, Jackie Miller; and special friend Paul; nieces; Christine and Amy, nephew, Daniel; great nieces, Natalie and Emma, and great nephew, Brayden. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00-3:00pm on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 followed by a Memorial service at 3:00pm at the Taylor Funeral Home in Staples…………….Happy Trails!
