Melvin Hutchison

Melvin C. Hutchison 91-year-old resident of Staples, MN passed away surrounded by his wife and children on September 3, 2019 at Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples. A memorial service remembering his life will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, September 10 at Staples Church of Christ with Pastor Barry Klein officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Melvin was born on October 14, 1927 in Swea City, Iowa to Vernon and Harriett Hutchison. and grew up on the family farm. Melvin was united in marriage to Delores Dibble on November 21, 1948 in Fairmont, MN and this marriage was blessed with five children. He was the jack of many trades including farming, mechanics, road construction, and butter maker. Melvin’s hobbies were flying, camping, fishing, and modifying junk into useful ideas. Melvin is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Delores of Staples, MN; children, Dennis Hutchison of Staples, MN, Karen (John) Mehr of Paynesville, MN, Peggy Hutchison of Cokato, MN, June (Pat) Pawelk of Howard Lakes, MN, DeeAnn (Lawrence) Hayes of Akeley, MN; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; many other friends and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Elmer Hutchison, Evelyn Rudolph; and other relatives. Melvin’s family would like to thank the Lakewood Health System employees, and the residents at the manor & care center for their respectful care and friendships. They all became a part of his family. Arrangements are with the Taylor Funeral Home in Staples.
