Pennie Burns, age 69, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 13, 1956, Pennie lived a life centered on family, laughter, and creativity. She was especially devoted to her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Known affectionately as the “crazy grandma,” Pennie embraced that title with pride, filling her family’s lives with humor, warmth, and unforgettable memories.

Pennie found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved gardening, needlepoint, and all kinds of crafts, always keeping her hands busy and her heart full. Her creativity and caring spirit were evident in everything she did, from handmade treasures to the time and love she generously gave to those around her.

She is survived by her beloved children: daughter Christy (Sam) Swartout and son Richard (Krissy) Stubbs; 10 cherished grandchildren; and 3 precious great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Micheal, her father George, and her grandparents.

Pennie’s family and friends will forever hold her memory close, remembering her laughter, her strength, and the deep love she had for her family.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, February 27, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Taconite Canteen in Ironton, Minnesota.

In honoring Pennie, the family invites everyone to remember her with joy — just as she would have wanted.
