Roger Vernon Olson

Roger Vernon Olson, age 96, of Baxter, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Essentia-St Joseph’s Medical Center. Roger was born on July 21, 1927, in Kittson County, Minnesota to Ephraim & Hulda (Rydberg) Olson.

Roger proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, serving a year in Korea. He retired from Potlatch.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 47 years, Joyce; children, Diane Bjornson, Susan (Tom) Breen, Mylan (Nicole) Olson and Nyman Olson; stepchildren, Stephen (Linda) Johnson, Gregg (Diane) Johnson and Reid (Margo) Johnson; son-in-law, Bob Nelson; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pam Nelson; grandson, Shane Bjornson; granddaughter, Kate McTee; sisters, Lorraine (Wayman) Prosser and Mercedes (Amos) Larson; brother, Wallace (Doris) Olson.

Funeral service for Roger will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 12PM at Halvorson Taylor Life Events Center. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.
