Roul D. Yalch, age 88 of Brainerd, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2020 at Diamond Willow in Baxter. Roul was born in Brainerd on March 19, 1932 to Ada (Peterson) and Joseph Yalch. He graduated from Brainerd High School in 1950, and then attended St. Cloud State University. Roul served his country in the US Army for two years during the Korean Conflict. He married Joan Gravdahl on November 27, 1958. Roul taught in the Bertha-Hewitt School District for 23 years where he taught High School Math and Physical Science. Roul raised his children to be learners of the world around them. Roul was an avid bowler for over 60 years. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing. Roul will be lovingly remembered as a do it your selfer and mechanic. He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Janice (Stephen) Johnson; son, David (Lori) Yalch; grandchildren, Grant, Ross (Allyson), and Garrett; great grandsons, Connor and Nolan; also 8 nieces and nephews. Roul is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan; son, Gordon; sister, Arlene Bachel. In order to protect the families we serve, our staff and guests, Halvorson Taylor Funeral Home has set in place policies and procedures for a walk by visitation to be held from 10:00AM-1:00PM on Friday May 8, 2020 at the Halvorson Taylor Life Events Center. This will be following the Governor’s order. A six feet distance will be maintained during the entire visitation. Staff will be present to make sure the distancing requirements are maintained.
