Shirley Peterson

Shirley Lillian Violet Peterson, age 83, of Brainerd, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Bethany Good–Samaritan Society. Shirley was born on January 2, 1937 in Rendsville Township to Leo & Myrtle (Rindfleisch) Kiefer. Shirley grew up on a dairy farm and graduated from Little Falls High School where she won awards for her penmanship; she had plans to be a teacher and have a world class flower shop. She carried a love for flowers her entire life. In 1957 Shirley married on August 24th in Freedom, MN and devoted herself to raising her children as a loving mother who encouraged her children and grandchildren in her gentle, accepting way with values of hard work and honesty. She was a true servant and gave selflessly to others—especially her family. She liked dogs and was happy to see Tator come with Kathy to visit her. Shirley enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, sewing, baking and spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory are her children: David (Debra) Peterson, Randy (Collette) Peterson and Kathy Peterson; sister, Beverly Fenske; brothers; LaVern Kiefer and Kenneth Kiefer; grandchildren: Josiah, Micah, Jeshuah, Kyra, Kia, Dinara, Coltan, nieces and nephews; grand dogs: Lexie, Tator, Maggie and Quincy. Preceded in death by her parents, infant sister, Delores, and her dog, Duke. Graveside services for Shirley will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 3PM at Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls.
