Sonia Busbey

Sonia Ann (Nelson) Busbey, age 84, of Brainerd, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2022, at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center. Sonia was born on July 9, 1938, in Brainerd to Irving & Beaulah (Fugate) Nelson.

Sonia enjoyed flower gardening, her chickens, Bible Study, BSF, Garden Club, and Home Makers. She loved baking carmel rolls at Woodland, camping with the family. Faith and family were the cornerstones of Sonia’s life.

She will be missed by her; children: RoxAnne (Greg) Mitchell, Deanne (Jeff) LeBlanc, Doug (Doretta) Busbey, Annette (Ryan) VanRoekel, Brad (Jill) Busbey; grandchildren, Christopher (Kelly) Busbey, Graham Mitchell, Mike (Nikki) LeBlanc, Kim (Troy) Bridge, Nicole (Daniel) Maurer, Joey (Chenoa) LeBlanc, Degalo Busbey, Sigame Busbey, Sitota Busbey, Sienna Busbey and Ali Busbey; great-grandchildren; Logan, Amaya, Avery, Kaylynn, Nolan, Natalie and Elise; siter, Nita (Earl) Grover; brother, Kim (Teresa) Nelson; sisters-in-law, Wilda Nybeck and Ardeth Busbey.

Sonia is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 64 years, Curt; daughter, Gail Hodgson; brother, Keith Nelson; and sister, Brenda McKinney.

A family burial will be held at Hillside Cemetery, on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 1PM. A remembrance service will be held, Saturday at 3PM at Lakewood Evangelical Free Church.
