Theodore Trout

Theodore Maxler Trout, known to family and friends as Ted, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026, in Brainerd, Minnesota, at the age of 87.

Ted was born on July 29, 1939, in Bowling Green, Ohio. He graduated from Sun Prairie High School in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, in May 1957. He later served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Finland, Minnesota. Although his early years took him to several places, Minnesota became home for most of his adult life.

Ted was a curious person who loved learning and was always interested in the pursuit of understanding. He especially loved the outdoors and spent many memorable days hunting and fishing throughout northern Minnesota.

His passions reflected his many sides. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, model railroading, and cooking. Whether he was out in the woods, working on his model trains, or preparing a meal, Ted found satisfaction in staying busy.

Ted will be deeply missed by his wife, Jane; son and daughter-in-law Todd and Marguerite; his daughter and son-in-law Megan and Dominic as well as 4 grandchildren. He is also survived by his younger brother, Hal.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Audine Trout; his sisters, Joyce and Phillis; and his brothers, Allen and Jon.

Ted leaves behind a family who will remember him for his curiosity, his love of the outdoors, the things he taught them, and the many memories made along the way. His presence will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 14 at Notch 8 in Brainerd starting at noon.

Burial will be held at 2pm on Friday, November 13th at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
